Hyde Park Barracks Museum

The Hyde Park Barracks was built in 1819 to house, clothe and feed convict men and boys. This impressive brick building and walled compound was later used as the main dormitory for newly arrived female immigrants and became known as the Hyde Park Asylum. The Barracks then became a hub of government departments and renamed Chancery Square. Until the late 1970s, thousands of public servants, legal workers and litigants occupied the crowded complex. Today the Hyde Park Barracks is a museum about itself. For more info, click here

Museum of Sydney

The Museum of Sydney is a modern museum on a historic site.The site of the colony’s first Government House built 1788, it was also the point of first contact between the Gadigal people of Sydney and the British exiles arriving on the First Fleet. Today this place remains a symbol of 1788. The museum explore stories about Sydney past and present. Exhibits focus on the pre-1788 character of Sydney, its history during the lifetime of first Government House 1788-1846, and the continuing stories of Sydney’s people and places, as it has developed into the metropolis it is today. Susannah Place Museum

Susannah Place is a rare surviving example of a simple working-class terrace. Built in 1844, by Irish immigrants and continuously occupied until 1990 this typically English terrace was home to over 100 different families.
