Did someone in your family serve for Australia in World War One?
March alongside us and recognise the bravery and ultimate sacrifice that our Australian Diggers made for our country.
We are the "Australian World War One Descendants", a non-profit association who honour our relatives who served our country in the Great War, by marching in their honour at the Sydney Anzac Day March each year. 2008 will mark the first year that the World War 1 veterans are represented by the lone horse carrying boots, as all who served are now passed.
We are in search of those who are also descendants of World War One personnel who may be interested in joining us on Anzac Day. We will assemble in the city on the corner of King and Pitt Streets at 11.30 a.m., outside the Soul Pattinson chemist. Look for our banner. Anyone interested in joining the march will need to become a member on the day at an annual joining fee of $20.00, prior to marching. Strict dress regulations require business attire (i.e. suit jacket and comfortable walking shoes, NO jeans or thongs), and wear their relative's medals on their right breast.

In 1776, with its American colonies fighting for independence and its jails overflowing, the British government began converting old ships into floating prisons or ‘hulks’ to house convicts sentenced to transportation.
Convict hulks is the first comprehensive exhibition recalling the harsh but fascinating history of convict hulks in Britain and its colonies, including New South Wales. It features more than 600 rare artefacts recovered from beneath the mooring site of the Dromedary hulk in Bermuda, brought to Australia just for this exhibition.
Discover what it was like on a prison ship. Hear stories of convicts’ lives. Step inside a re-created punishment box. Try on some ankle irons. Experience sights and sounds that evoke the daily lives of the hulks’ wretched human cargo.
