The snap shot given of De Groot and the significance of his sword overlooks the additional story of the Sydney law firm of Piggot Stimpson who represented De Groot in his court case. The firm was presented with the sword by De Groot after their success. From the 1930's the sword was displayed in the office of the firm. In the 1980's with the relocation of it's offices, the firm undertook a search to return the item to a family member. This was when it left Sydney and was sent to Ireland only to be sold and later returned to Australia.
