Professor Roger Byard AO PSM is the Professor of Pathology at The University of Adelaide and is a Senior Forensic Pathologist at Forensic Science SA in Adelaide, Australia. He is a Fellow of a number of colleges in Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada and was registered as an Expert with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague in 2009.
Roger has published, or has in press, over 700 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 107 chapters and 5 text books on a wide variety of forensic topics. He was awarded the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal (HOSM) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Operations Medal for disaster victim identification work in Bali after the bombings in 2002 and in Thailand after the tsunami in 2004. He received The University of Adelaide Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013 and the University of Tasmania Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016.
